Structural Features
There are a few main kinds of these steel plates. The standard one uses hot rolled steel like Q235 or Q345, and its galvanized to stop rust. Widths usually run from 300 to 600 mm for the modules, thickness depends on how heavy the load is, so 6 to 10 mm, and lengths like 3 or 6 meters in segments. They come in shapes with I or U cross sections, plus some ribs for stiffening, and connect with bolts to the beams, using plates at the joints.
Another type is the patterned steel plate, made from Q235 but with a thickness of 4 to 6 mm. It has that embossed surface to keep things from slipping, and it just lays right on the crossbeams. This seems good for temporary setups or light stuff like walking bridges or small vehicles. You fix it with welding or bolts.

Matching Accessories and Connection Structures
Then theres the composite kind, where the steel plate acts as a base for concrete on top, with reinforcement in the mix. It gives better strength overall and lasts longer, I guess for heavier trucks or when the bridge needs to stick around awhile.
When picking these plates, you have to match the thickness to the vehicles weight and axle loads. The span across shouldnt be more than 1.5 meters or so, otherwise you need extra ribs. In wet areas or for long use, make sure the corrosion protection is up to it, like better galvanizing. During install, check that bolts are tight and joints are even. And keep an eye on maintenance, looking for rust or bends, replace if needed.
