The Bailey truss bridge, also known as a Bailey bridge or prefabricated highway steel bridge, mainly features a shape composed of standardized truss units, characterized by a triangular structure.

This type of bridge adopts a modular design, with its core components being pre-manufactured steel truss panels, each consisting of top and bottom chords, vertical posts, and diagonal members welded together to form a sturdy triangular grid.

Multiple truss panels are connected with special pins to form main trusses of various lengths. Depending on the load requirements, single, double, or triple configurations of parallel tracks can be used.

Components such as cross beams, longitudinal beams, and bridge deck panels are installed on the main trusses to form a complete bridge deck structure.

The overall appearance resembles a long, beam-like bridge, with the main truss portion having a distinct three-dimensional grid look due to the triangular truss structure. The bridge deck is usually straight and can be supported by abutments or piers.
