Product Introduction

Sometimes galvanizing is more than the job needs. If a crossing is only going to be up for a season or two, paying the galvanizing premium does not make sense. That is the gap the paint-finished anti-rust bailey bridge fills.

We supply the panels with a two- or three-coat paint system instead of hot-dip galvanizing. That cuts the upfront cost, and it is perfectly adequate for projects lasting one to five years, after which the bridge comes down and gets repainted or redeployed. We pick the coating for good shop application, quick touch-up on site, and acceptable corrosion resistance in rural or temperate conditions.

You will see this bridge on construction-site temporary works, short-term detours, event crossings, and anywhere an owner does not want to pay for galvanizing on a structure that will be reused within a few seasons.

Features

Lower upfront cost than galvanized equivalents. The paint-finished anti-rust bailey bridge makes this practical.

Suitable for short-to-medium duration projects.

Easily touched up during redeployment.

Good colour options for visual integration.

Standard Bailey geometry and hardware.

Not intended for coastal or high-humidity long-term use.

Working Principle

Structurally this is the standard Bailey truss, but the part that is different here is the protection system. The primer is what does the real work at the steel surface. After blasting to Sa 2.5, the primer grips the cleaned steel and gives a first layer of corrosion inhibition. The intermediate epoxy and the polyurethane finish then sit on top as a barrier that keeps moisture and oxygen away from the metal. The paint-finished anti-rust bailey bridge is built for this.

Where the coating gets broken, at drill holes, welds or transport scratches, corrosion starts. That is why we ship brush paint with every kit and why a quick touch-up on site keeps the bridge sound. Paint is simply less durable than galvanizing, so the practical rule is to keep this bridge inland and temperate, and to repaint or retire it within a few years rather than leaving it out in the weather long term.

Applications

Typical uses are construction-site access bridges, short-term highway and railway detours, event and exhibition crossings, temporary works on building and infrastructure projects, and rental bridging fleets serving clients on a single-season basis. We do not recommend it for coastal, tidal or permanently wet environments, where galvanized or weathering steel would be the better call. The paint-finished anti-rust bailey bridge is built for this.
