How Reinforcement Works
Reinforcing chords are the heart of this triple‑truss reinforced bailey bridge. They bolt to the outside of the top and bottom chords. The panel takes bending. The reinforcing chord shares the tension. On the top chord, both pull together. On the bottom chord, both push together. Chord bolts lock the reinforcement and the panel into one body. They do not act separately. Load sharing across the three lines is handled by transoms and sway braces. The transom passes through all three rows. Clamps lock row by row. Sway braces adjust to keep spacing even.
Assembly Sequence
The assembly of the triple-truss reinforced Bailey bridge begins with the middle row.Install the center truss first. Then add the two outer rows. After each row goes on, transom clamps lock it to the row already in place. Reinforcing chords go on after the panels are connected. Chord bolts are torqued hole by hole. Once all three rows are up, sway braces go across. They tie the three rows into one section. Deck panels go last. During cantilever launching, triple-row weight is higher than double-row. The balance point must be calculated first.
Where It Goes

A double-story bridge raises the deck. Approach ramps get longer. Triple truss reinforced keeps single-story elevation and adds rows instead. Second, the load class goes beyond standard demand. Mining haul trucks, tracked military vehicles - a standard double-row setup runs short on safety margin. Triple truss reinforced spreads load across six lines. Pin hole wear and fatigue life both improve. Temporary heavy-haul routes, military reserve bridges, and large equipment access roads use TSR configurations.
