When you're doing dam inspection, spillway repair or gate replacement, the heavy gear still has to reach the dam face - and you can't drain the reservoir or stop power generation to do it. This temporary steel bridge gives you a stable, wide-deck crossing so cranes, welding rigs and inspection platforms can get to the work without disrupting anything. Maintenance windows on a dam are tight and often tied to flood-release rules, so the bridge has to go up fast and come out just as fast. We engineered it for the concentrated loads of crawler cranes and for the wet, slippery reality of a dam site. Working Principle
Mechanically it's a through-truss girder. Crane and service loads come off the deck, through the floor beams and into the twin main trusses; the diagonals convert the shear into axial tension and compression, and the chords resist the bending. Here the load is heavily concentrated near midspan - a crawler crane doesn't spread itself out - so we put reinforced chord segments over the central panels to carry it. Erection usually launches from the dam crest or an abutment access road: we build the panels on a working platform, extend a launching nose out over the reservoir, and a winch or small gantry pushes the truss into place. The abutments anchor straight into the existing dam concrete or onto pre-installed steel bent piles. Because the panel connections are pinned and bolted with no field welding, the dam's own maintenance crew can stand the whole thing up.
