450-type Heavy-duty Bailey Bridge

450-type Heavy-duty Bailey Bridge

The 450-type heavy-duty bailey bridge is the heavy hitter in the 450 load class, and we spec it for the jobs that would wreck a standard bailey. Think oversize haul routes, mine and quarry access, and heavy-plant crossings where 60–90 t dump trucks, graders, and big excavators need to get across a watercourse or a gap day after day. The "450" tag means a live-load class well above the ordinary bailey, reached through heavier panels, reinforced chords, and multi-truss arrangements.

Products Description

The 450-type heavy-duty bailey bridge is the heavy hitter in the 450 load class, and we spec it for the jobs that would wreck a standard bailey. Think oversize haul routes, mine and quarry access, and heavy-plant crossings where 60–90 t dump trucks, graders, and big excavators need to get across a watercourse or a gap day after day. The "450" tag means a live-load class well above the ordinary bailey, reached through heavier panels, reinforced chords, and multi-truss arrangements.

You choose this one when a normal bailey would overload or fatigue out under repeated super-heavy traffic. What you get is a stiff, durable roadway that can sit in service for years on mines, dams, and major infrastructure schemes - not a throwaway crossing, but a workhorse that earns its keep.

Features

Heavy-duty load class built for oversize mining and construction plant. The 450-type heavy-duty bailey bridge makes this practical.

Reinforced chords and multi-truss arrangements resist repeated heavy loading.

Stiff deck minimizes deflection under large crawler machines.

Durable duplex coating for long mine or dam-site service.

Standard bailey accessory interface keeps spare parts simple.

Erected by crane or incremental launch to match your site logistics.

Survives the kind of traffic that would fatigue a standard bailey early.

Working Principle

This is a deep through-truss girder, but every member is sized for the abuse a mine site dishes out. The panel points carry higher loads than a light bridge would see, so the chords and web are heavier and the chords are doubly reinforced. That's deliberate - under a 90 t dump truck, the midspan demand is compression up top and tension below, and you want steel there that won't flinch. The 450-type heavy-duty bailey bridge is built for this.

A loaded truck's wheel and track loads drop onto the deck and transfer through the heavy floor beams into two, three, or four parallel longitudinal trusses. The web geometry turns the applied moment into axial chord forces, and the reinforced chords soak up those big midspan demands. Sway frames and wind ties keep the multi-truss stack stable. Heavy rocker bearings at each end spread the reaction down onto the concrete abutments without locking the structure up.

To build it, we either set panels with a crane or launch them out with a heavy nose; either way the heavier pieces want proper lifting gear. Longer crossings get broken into simply supported segments by intermediate bailey trestle piers, which keeps each span's demand within what the panels can carry.

Applications

Typical deployments include mine haul-road bridges for 60–90 t dump trucks; quarry and aggregate plant access crossings; dam and reservoir construction access for large plant; crossings on major highway and rail projects during heavy-plant phases; bridges for oversize and overweight permit moves; and heavy-industry access at steel mills, ports, and power plants where repeated super-heavy traffic is expected. The 450-type heavy-duty bailey bridge is built for this.

Customization

We set the 450-type to your plant: deck width of 4.5 m single lane or a 6.0 m plant-tailored width, and load rating up to MLC 120 / AASHTO HL-93 with overload allowance for 60–90 t trucks. Span runs 20–50 m single lane, or 70 m in a double- or triple-truss arrangement, with bailey trestle piers for longer crossings. Surface treatment is galvanizing to ISO 1461 plus a polyurethane topcoat as standard, with extra coating systems for corrosive mine or marine sites. We engineer to your drawings or ours, pack into containers, and send a site engineer for launch and inspection. OEM/ODM supply is available for fleets that want a private-label heavy bridge. The 450-type heavy-duty bailey bridge is built for this.

Structure

The 450-type is a deep through-truss girder whose every member is sized for repeated super-heavy traffic. Two, three, or four parallel longitudinal trusses carry the load, with doubly reinforced top and bottom chords taking the peak midspan compression and tension. Heavy floor beams pick up wheel and track loads from the deck and feed them into the trusses, while sway frames and wind ties keep the multi-truss stack stable. At each end, heavy rocker or roller bearings sit on reinforced concrete abutments and spread the reaction into the foundation. Heavy-gauge anti-slip steel deck plates or grating form the running surface on top of the floor beams. The 450-type heavy-duty bailey bridge is built for this.
