HD200 Bailey Bridge

HD200 Bailey Bridge

The HD200 sits in the middle of our HD panel range and carries a heavier load class than the HD100 — that "200" is the step up you reach for when the lighter bridge would be undersized. It's meant for the day-to-day reality of a construction site: routine truck and plant traffic, road-replacement detours, and medium-span water crossings where people and machines just keep coming. The hd200 bailey bridge is built for this.

Product Introduction

The HD200 sits in the middle of our HD panel range and carries a heavier load class than the HD100 - that "200" is the step up you reach for when the lighter bridge would be undersized. It's meant for the day-to-day reality of a construction site: routine truck and plant traffic, road-replacement detours, and medium-span water crossings where people and machines just keep coming. The hd200 bailey bridge is built for this.

We kept the familiar bailey panel format but put higher-grade steel and reinforced chords into it, so you get heavier live-load ratings at competitive spans. Contractors like it because it goes up quickly, takes years of repeated truck traffic, and then moves to the next job without a major refurbishment.

Features

Balanced load-to-span ratio for general highway and construction traffic. The hd200 bailey bridge makes this practical.

Reinforced chord sections extend span capability without adding extra truss lines.

Standard bailey interfaces allow use of common accessories and spare parts.

Fast erection: a crew of 6–8 can install a 30 m span in days rather than weeks.

Durable galvanized finish suitable for 5–10 year temporary service.

Reusable across multiple projects with minimal maintenance.

Working Principle

Truck traffic on the HD200 loads the steel deck plates first. That weight runs down through the transverse floor beams and into the paired longitudinal trusses that carry it the length of the span. Inside the trusses, the diagonal web system converts gravity load into axial tension and compression - the steel is used efficiently, and member forces stay where you can calculate them. The hd200 bailey bridge is built for this.

The reinforced chords are the reason this model out-ranges the lighter ones: they soak up the bending moment that grows as the span gets longer. Cross-bracing frames hold the two truss lines together so a heavy, off-center load can't twist the deck. We normally erect by side launching or incremental launching with a nose, deliberately keeping the crane off the water. The span then sits on rocker bearings that let it creep a little lengthwise as the temperature changes - small movement, no stress.

Applications

You'll find these on detours during permanent-bridge replacement on public highways, and giving concrete and asphalt trucks access on road-widening jobs. They cross rivers and canals during dam, weir or water-treatment construction, and serve as haul-road crossings at quarries, mines and landfills. Wind-farm and solar-farm sites use them for access, and after floods, earthquakes or storms they go in as emergency bridges to get traffic moving again. The hd200 bailey bridge is built for this.

Customization

The HD200 takes the heavier "200" load class, so we size it around your actual truck and plant weights rather than a generic rating. Deck comes 4.0 m single lane or 6.0 m two lane, and we tune span from 15 m up to 60 m with single or double trusses. Finish is galvanized as standard with an optional epoxy polyurethane topcoat for aggressive sites, and we color-match the topcoat to your spec. Because it uses standard bailey interfaces, you can mix in our common transoms, sway frames, handrails and ramp units, or we'll cut a panel set to your bill of quantities. Send us the load class and the gap and we'll return a priced kit with the reinforced chords already specified. The hd200 bailey bridge is built for this.

Structure

The HD200 is a through-truss built from 3.048 m × 1.45 m panels with reinforced top and bottom chords as standard. Truck load enters the steel deck plates, runs down the transverse floor beams into the paired longitudinal trusses, and the diagonal web system converts it to axial tension and compression. The reinforced chords soak up the midspan bending moment, while sway-bracing frames hold the two truss lines together so a heavy, off-center load can't twist the deck. The deck is anti-slip checker plate or steel grating, and the span sits on steel rocker or elastomeric bearings on spread footings. Standard pin-and-bolt connections let a 6–8 person crew install a 30 m span in days. The hd200 bailey bridge is built for this.
